F*** me dead!
I am out of it with only your readership as life preserver, learning to speak Japanese, just generally being a doormat to society in general, my day drifts aimlessly from mid-morning to whenever. I am not growing up. deal with it.
I won't promise anything to you but I will write something that makes sense soon. Well, I'll try. Assuming I don't get distracted by counting my chest hairs..

Your result for Which Chess Piece are You Test?...
The Queen's Rook
Congrats! Only 5-6% of the population score this!
The Queen’s Rook is a pensive, analytical individual. They don’t mind spending long periods of time on their own to work through problems. They may venture so far into thought they appear vacant or detached; often they really are oblivious of the world at that moment. These wayward princes are precise about descriptions and by habit correct others (or feel sorely tempted) if the shade of meaning is slightly off. This is annoying to the less concise, but this is what gives the Queen’s Rook a gift for gab, especially in writing.
This Rook is relatively easy going until their principles of truth, knowledge and justice are violated. Because of this they hate the formalities of bureaucracy, politics, and authority – which tend to mask the truth of operations. They will respond with a flip of the switch and become outspoken and inflexible. They will eventually drop the issue, because they do prefer a reserved and benign ambiance. The problem with the Queen’s Rook is when they are debating a point; they may be convincing themselves as much as their opponent. They spend a considerable amount of time second-guessing their abilities and may come to multiple conclusions that offer plausible solutions.
An indicator that a friend may be a Queen’s Rook is an obsession with logic. If a mistake is made, it is because there wasn’t enough data or it was placed out of context. Another indicator you’re friend is a Rook, throw a strategy game at them. They enjoy Risk, Bridge, Chess, and word games. Never rush the Rook. They don’t draw conclusions very quickly. If one were to gather a bunch of Rooks together to form a group they may debate:
1.) Whether or not there should be a group.
2.) Exactly what name should the proposed group choose?
3.) Which of the persons in the group should take responsibility or should they rotate?

What is TC talking about?
KSW: Keeping Scientology Working. Refers to a policy LRH published in 1965 that requires all Scientologists to follow his words and rules exactly. "It is something that you have to earn": Cruise is referring to taking Scientology courses. the tab for wisdom can be hundreds if not thousands of dollars. "Am I going to look at that guy or am I too afraid?" According to former and current members, pre-clears have to learn to look someone straight in the eye for hours. out-ethics If you misbehave, you have "out-ethics. SP: "Suppressive Person." An SP is someone who commits suppressive acts, like murder, criticizing Scientology or altering LRH's teachings Journalists are automatically considered SPs because they traffic in bad news and so are barred from entering Scientology. Psychiatrists would also be SPs PTS: "Potential Trouble Sources," as in Scientologists who are losing the faith or are being influenced by an SP. |
The things that people will buy into -- and Scientology is something one literally has to buy into -- is enough sometimes to make me think that insanity is the norm for the human race. But then what is "insanity", really? Usually it refers to people operating outside of the norm. The farther outside of what's considered "normal" (for any given society) one's actions/ lifestyle/ personality happen to be, the more likely said society is to label them as "crazy". Hence, by this definition, it is impossible for insanity to be the norm amongst society as a whole. But despite the subjective relativity of "insanity", most individuals tend to view "mental illness" as an objective concept. Were insanity truly objective, it would then be possible for insanity to be the norm. However, in this instance, the "normal" person wouldn't recognize their own insanity. It would only be recognized by those abnormal few that were lucky enough to be spared mental illness. Of course the majority of society would likely consider that small objectively sane population to be the insane ones. Or perhaps rather than insane, they would simply be viewed as "SPs", "sinners", "heathens", "infidels" or any of the other names societies "religions" have for people whose belief systems differ from their own.

College Girls Drinking More and Wearing Less
The researchers went to 66 different college parties to try and get a feel for what college life was all about in the modern era. The lead author of the study, John Clapp, director of the Center for Alcohol and Drug Studies and Services at San Diego State University stated that the women were the most notable parts of the college party experience.

Changing abortion's pronoun
Abortion is usually portrayed as a woman's issue: her body, her choice, her relief or her regret. This new movement -- both political and deeply personal in nature -- contends that the pronoun is all wrong. When men are widely recognized as victims, Rue said, "that will change society."
The men are urged to think of themselves as fathers, to name -- and ask forgiveness from -- the children they might have raised
|
If these men feel some sense of comfort from coming together and acknowledging their pain, then that's what they should do. But recognizing men as "victims" to abortion? And asking them to think of themselves as fathers and name the children their partners aborted... and ask them for forgiveness? That's going to far. Doesn't sound healthy to me. I know a woman who runs a post-abortion group for women that employs that same method of "recovery". I think it likely contributes more to the need of recovery than helps anyone.
And this new men's movement is already being politicized -- encouraging men to tell their stories of post-abortion trauma in hopes of tugging at the heart strings of American voters. If the Christian Right can't scare us into believing as they do with threats of an eternity in Hell, then they'll create a psychological and societal crisis where none exists. Pitiful.

NaNoWriMo Winner!

I have finally done it! I'm a 2007 NaNoWriMo winner! I've achieved the ultimate goal of writing a 50,000 page novel in just 30 days! Well, OK... I actually wrote 50,101 words so far. And I say so far because the novel isn't exactly completed. It will end up being much longer. Now here's to hoping I can stick with it to finish it. But I do hope to be doing more blogging again now that November is over. Maybe at some point I'll even post some excerpts from my book.

"Lesbian" Worms
Scientists have created ‘lesbian worms’ in a new development that some are suggesting could shed light on the nature vs nurture debate over sexuality “The conclusion is that sexual attraction is wired into brain circuits common to both sexes of worms, and is not caused solely by extra nerve cells added to the male or female brain,” says biologist Erik Jorgensen The ‘lesbian worms’ line is a bit of red herring. There aren’t true females in the C. elegans nematodes used, only hermaphrodites and (rare) true males. “A hermaphrodite makes both eggs and sperm,” says Jorgensen. They also took hermaphrodite worms and turned on the genes that determine maleness, these then became the famous ‘lesbian worms’, chasing after other hermaphrodites. Jorgensen calls hermaphrodites “females” because they reproduce independently. |

Yahoo! Mash
Mash is Yahoo's latest beta project, intended to rival MySpace and Facebook. I thought that Yahoo had the same intention for 360, not that it even came close to living up to that purpose. And 360 still hasn't made it out of the beta stage.
So now that Yahoo is working on Mash, what will become of 360? Will it become an abandoned project, doomed forever to remain in the beta stage? Or will Yahoo pull 360 out of beta and allow it to be what it pretty much has already become -- an extended Yahoo profile with online networking overtones.
One of the reasons 360 never really took off was because Yahoo failed to incorporate into it one of the things that made MySpace such a hit in the first place -- an almost endless ability for personalization. Sure, Yahoo thought about the whole networking thing when they made 360. But what about the ability to add music, videos, games, quizzes, flashy graphic comments, or by simply copying and pasting a little piece of code into one of your profile sections, to completely change the layout of your page so it becomes truly, uniquely you. Yahoo missed the boat in those areas.
But what 360 lacks, Mash promises to deliver... or so it seems. Mash is not only still in its beta testing stage, it is also currently available to the public on an invitation only basis. I managed to get an invite and checked it out. Like MySpace, Mash offers a great deal of customizeability. As of yet, you can't do nearly as much with it as you can with MySpace, but that's because of it's currently small user base. And let's face it... what enables people to so greatly personalize their MySpace profiles is due largely to third parties creating all those extras and making them available to MySpace users via external websites. Mash doesn't have all these third party designers and developers yet. Most people don't even know about it yet. But I believe that Mash offers an equal or greater potential for personalization compared to MySpace.
Rather than requiring users to search out third party websites for their personalization needs, Mash offers it all right on the Mash website in the form of modules that anybody can create... much like you find on Google's personal home pages. And also like on Google's personalized homes, you can simply drag and drop your modules to rearrange your layout. So there's no need for searching out code to add to your profile when you want to rearrange or completely remove a section, like on MySpace.
Another major difference is the ability for users other than the profile's "owner" to modify the profile. On MySpace, your friends can leave text, graphics, videos, etc. as comments which are then added to your profile. On Mash, by default, there's the ability for anybody at all to do anything at all to your profile... or at least anything that you yourself would be able to do. But you are able to change your settings so that rather than anyone being able to edit your profile, only your friends will have the ability... or you can turn off the feature all together so that nobody but yourself can make changes. It's up to you whether you want your profile to be yours or whether you want to enable others a wiki-like freedom to contribute to it.
So basically, Y!Mash is kinda like a mash-up of MySpace, Google Personalized homes and a wiki. Yahoo was at the forefront of the internet revolution. It's great to see them finally joining in on the web 2.0 evolution.
If anybody would like an invitation to join Yahoo! Mash, feel free to contact me at pooge0287@yahoo.com, and I'll hook ya up.

Clitoraid... Adopt a Clitoris!
From the same folks that brought you Clonaid comes Clitoraid!
Remember Clonaid and the Raelians? Well if not, I'll give you a quick refresher course. Back in 2002, the "human cloning company" Clonaid claimed to have successfully cloned a human embryo, and further more, claimed the cloned human baby was born via c-section. While such claims were never verified, it turned out that the head of Clonaid is a bishop in the Raelian church. The Raelians are a UFO cult headed by some former French singer/auto-racing journalist who changed his name to Rael, and apparently Clonaid is closely associated with the Raelian movement as their tool to achieve immortality through cloning.
Ok... so... the Raelians don't believe in God, but they do believe in intelligent design... with the intelligent designers being extra-terrestrials, basically. And the Raelians believe cloning is the key to their immortality. But what's any of this have to do with sponsoring a clitoris?
Well first, let's clarify what's meant by sponsoring or adopting a clitoris. In many parts of Africa, it is customary to perform clitoral excision (a form of genital mutilation sometimes referred to as "female circumcision") on young girls. What this means is their clitoris is removed, which of course takes most of the pleasure out of the act of sex. Amongst the Raelians' beliefs, are beliefs in sexual freedom for men and women alike. So the Raelians are attempting to raise money for the surgical procedure required to RESTORE these women's clitorises, hence Clitoraid and the adopt a clitoris program.
Is it possible to restore a woman's clitoris once it's been removed? I have no clue... but sounds like a noble cause led by a bunch of nut jobs, to me. Seems to me I remember Oprah doing a show on female genital mutilation in Africa a couple of years back. You don't suppose Oprah's a Raelian, do ya?
For more information on the Raelians, you may wish to check out some of their many official websites.

Still kickin'
I was looking through some of my old posts. The one about Anna Nicole Smith's son dying caught my eye. I remember when that happened. Something about it seemed so weird and... unfair. Little did I know how much stranger the story was gonna get. Throughout the investigation into Anna Nicole's own death, throughout the fight over who would decide where she would be buried, and throughout the custody battle over her infant daughter, I thought many times about blogging about it all. I figured since I had made a post about the son death, might as well follow the continuing saga. But like most things in my life, I never got around to it.
If you look through my blog, you might notice that there's an awful lot of posts about my not posting in a while. When a person has nothing more to say other than mentioning that they've had nothing to say, is it really worth maintaining a blog? let alone... how ever many blogs I have now... I don't even know anymore. The answer is yes... yes it is. Cuz if I didn't have all these blogs, what would I do on days such as today when I need something to prevent me from breaking the law or otherwise going against the long established norms of society? Hmmm... actually, I go against the long established norms of society on a daily basis regardless... but I don't like breaking the law. So instead, I blog.

Whoops!
Of course every New Years Eve, I also take some time to show respect for Lt. Col. McAllister -- the Army officer who on December 31st, 1986 was stabbed by an enlisted man just outside the P/X at the Presidio of San Francisco as he waited in line at the hot dog stand... and as my friends and I sat at a nearby table. And this year will mark the 20 year anniversary of that event. Hard to believe. But since that day, every year on New Years Eve, no matter what I've been doing, my thoughts have been with the McAllister family.
But anyway... I need to stop writing in here and start writing some more of my trash novel. Until I post again... whenever that may be.

Our future, with Dick & Jen (Metro Times Detroit)
by Jack Lessenberry
10/11/2006
"Michigan is, by common consent, in terrible shape, thanks mainly to the domestic auto industry. What nobody likes to talk much about is that it will soon get worse, as the previously announced massive auto layoffs kick in over the next two years.
Last week Gov. Jennifer Granholm went toe-to-toe with Republican trillionaire Dick DeVos in the first of three televised debates. (There was another debate scheduled for last night, which, thanks to the Tigers' playoff game, was likely seen only by two paraplegics who dropped the remotes in Benton Harbor and Ubly.)
I expected very little out of the first debate, but watched it anyway, since I have no friends. What I imagined is that they would be like two skinny sumo wrestlers, cautiously pushing each other in a narrow ring.
In fact, it started even worse than that. The only issue that really matters in this state is the economy, and what we can do to avoid looking like a cross between Haiti and the poorer parts of West Virginia in a few years.
But instead, moderator Tim Skubick, who can come across as sort of an attack ferret, chose to begin by asking if they lied in their commercials. That led to several minutes in which each seemed to be auditioning for a remake of Mean Girls. ('You lie, I don't! You said I didn't meet with Honda! I have pictures of me meeting with Honda!' etc., etc.) Many viewers must have longed for the maturity of Lindsay Lohan. Eventually, however, the candidoids moved on to other topics, and gradually something became pretty clear, which was that Dick DeVos has no business running for governor of Michigan.
Within minutes, he demonstrated conclusively that he a) is a narrow partisan ideologue, b) has no grasp of how state government works, c) is a dangerous religious extremist and d) can't think on his feet."

What Do You See?
Unless you're a young child, you probably saw a couple in an intimate pose. However, studies suggest that young children will not see the couple, because they have no prior experience to associate it with. What they will see is the nine dolphins in the picture. You may not even have noticed that there are nine dolphins in the picture, but look more closely... they're there.

Quit Smoking AGAIN...
I smoked for 20 years, which is more than half of my life, and I'm really ready to quit and put my health first.
So far, I've been without a smoke for 10 days, and while I occasionally feel I want to smoke, a combination of nicorette and cinnamon sticks helps satisfy those urges. The nicorette obviously provides me with the nicotine my body has become so addicted to, while the cinnamon sticks make a nice roughly cigarette sized substitute to hold on to and suck on, etc.
I'm not planning on following the recommended treatment plan for nicorette this time, as last time it just left me addicted to the gum, and I then had to use the patch to get off the gum. At that time, those were the main nicorette placement therapies available. Now I could see myself going through a cycle of addiction to various nicotine products... the gum... the patch... commit lozenges... that little puffy inhaler thing that's available by prescription only... back to the gum, etc. But I'm not gonna let that happen. I'm already working on weening myself off nicorette by substituting regular gum for it when I can. I will probably always need something to hold in my hands and/or stick in my mouth, tho. And I don't mind that... as long as it's not cancer causing.
